We're delighted to announce that Artemis, Apexiar's asset and facility management platform, is now live with Transport for Wales (TfW) — one of the UK's most important and highly regulated rail operators.
This deployment marks a significant milestone for Apexiar. It validates what we've always believed: that enterprise-grade asset management doesn't have to mean enterprise-grade complexity, and that the right platform can transform how regulated organisations operate.
A Regulated Industry with Zero Room for Error
Rail is one of the most heavily regulated industries in the United Kingdom. Every asset — from rolling stock to depot infrastructure — must meet strict compliance, safety, and audit requirements. Downtime isn't an inconvenience; it directly impacts public services, passenger safety, and regulatory standing.
TfW needed a platform that could operate within this environment without compromise. That meant meeting stringent cyber security standards, maintaining robust data governance, and delivering a system that teams could trust with mission-critical operations.
99% Uptime: Non-Negotiable
When you're managing assets that keep a rail network running, system reliability isn't a feature — it's a prerequisite. TfW required a platform capable of delivering 99% system uptime, ensuring that maintenance teams, compliance officers, and operational managers always have access to the tools and data they need.
Artemis was architected from the ground up with high availability in mind. Our infrastructure is designed for resilience, with the monitoring, redundancy, and failover capabilities that regulated environments demand.
Cyber Security at the Core
Operating within a critical national infrastructure environment means cyber security isn't an afterthought — it's foundational. TfW's security requirements are among the most demanding in any sector, and rightly so.
Artemis meets these standards head-on. From encrypted data at rest and in transit, to role-based access controls, audit logging, and secure authentication — every layer of the platform has been built with security as a first principle, not a bolt-on.
The Real Driver: Doing More Without Growing Headcount
Perhaps the most compelling reason TfW chose Artemis wasn't about technology — it was about people. As TfW's estate expanded with new assets and infrastructure, the operational workload grew with it. The traditional answer would have been to recruit additional staff to manage the increased volume of maintenance, inspections, and compliance tasks.
Artemis offered a different path.
By automating processes and workflows — from maintenance scheduling and work order management to compliance checklists and escalation procedures — Artemis absorbed the increased workload without requiring additional headcount. The result:
- No recruitment required — the platform scaled to meet growing demand, not the team
- Increased productivity — automated workflows freed staff to focus on higher-value work rather than administrative burden
- Reduced asset downtime — preventive maintenance scheduling and real-time visibility ensured issues were caught and resolved before they escalated
- Operational consistency — standardised processes across sites, removing reliance on individual knowledge and manual handovers
This is the kind of outcome that defines what Artemis was built to deliver: not just digitisation, but genuine operational transformation.
Feedback That Makes It All Worth It
Building enterprise software is hard. Building it for regulated industries — where the margin for error is zero and the expectations are sky-high — is harder still. There are long days, complex problems, and countless iterations before something is ready for an environment like TfW's.
The feedback we've received from Transport for Wales has meant the world to us. When a customer operating at this level provides glowing feedback — not just on the product, but on the customer service and partnership behind it — it validates every late night and every difficult decision.
We don't take that lightly. It's a reminder of why we do this: to build technology that genuinely makes a difference to the people who use it, every single day.
Artemis Across Regulated Industries
The TfW deployment is part of a broader story. Artemis is now live across multiple regulated industries, each with their own unique challenges around compliance, asset management, and operational efficiency. What they share is a need for a platform that's secure, reliable, and built for the way real teams work.
From rail to facilities management and beyond, Artemis is proving that a single platform — purpose-built for complexity — can adapt to the demands of any regulated environment.
What's Next
We're continuing to develop Artemis in close partnership with customers like TfW. Their real-world feedback directly shapes our roadmap, ensuring that every new feature solves a genuine operational problem rather than adding unnecessary complexity.
If you're operating in a regulated industry and looking for an asset management platform that was built for environments like yours, we'd love to hear from you.
